Mahaloness is a blog dedicated to telling the story of my artistic journey that was given to me. I am a contemporary artist, based in Calgary, Alberta Canada. My main focus is paint, though my expertise is not limited to only this. I am an explorer, I am a geographer (BA in Physical Geography) , I am steward of Earth, to art and to humanity. My art is a reflection of these elements and I feel it is the responsibility of the artist to share this with humanity, for it is integral to being human. Art is healing, you will feel this when you place yourself in front of my paintings and let the painting take you on a cerebral ride. Each painting tells a story about art, and where it comes from. I also paint for spirit, I am a channeller, and I am an energy worker. Great teachers have I met along my path, I feel blessed to have traveled to a wonderful and wide range of geographic locations, and to be witness to the magic on this plane. I have also been blessed to share my art around the globe with many people young and old. I find immense joy in making art, which includes my in studio time, and when I am doing 'environmental' painting, where I go and immerse myself in particular environments and paint ( I call this process a 'paintamentary'). I do enjoy having a direct connection with the place I am working in, as well as the inhabits of that location. In these situations I am working with the energy of the environment. You could say I am intense, and perhaps even a man possessed. I like to work hard on my art, it is an ongoing storyboard, a visual document of a life lived. It is my intentions to follow the artistic path left by my predecessors, and I am committed to share my process, theory and the finished work with you. My favorite expression is 'Mahaloness' , it simply means to be in gratitude and being thankful for everything that we have and share. It is also represents my gratefulness for Earth, our home. I can also be found on the internet as Shane Michael Haltman Nickname: halts, Mahaloness, Shamanski Explorer, Artist, and visionary Notables: I painted a school bus called Bassbus (72 seater) with amazing imagery which is 3-D and very well layered, my largest work to date. I have also painted several murals including one for Cirque du Soleil. My friend Stu, it was at a really posh hotel, he happened to be quite gifted at classical piano, so he sat down and played, when security came they let us play on:)

I feel that this speaks volumes about solitude and the isolation we feel in moments of natural splendour & man made beauty. Or possibly it’s just a load of really cool photos. You decide?
August 19, 2012 at 7:48 am
We make the most of where we’re at, the moments here happen everyday, everywhere, every which way, though perhaps not always apparent if we are in some kind of numbed state or caught up in our daily blah blah, these moments were gifts and I was happy to document them and share them here.

Speechless! *’coz I could still find a word to compliment*
August 19, 2012 at 9:33 am
Excellent choice:)

Photos like these are the best — not that much physically, but can get through your heart. At least for me and for all the others here, I believe.

A picture’s worth a thousand words. I think the piano photo is my favorite.
August 19, 2012 at 7:41 pm
A good friend, Stu, I met him on the Big Island Hawaii, he was classically trained and there happened to be a piano at a posh hotel, he sat down and played unannounced, it was a really special moment in time:)

wordless doesnt mean ..without expression isnt it ?
August 24, 2012 at 10:32 am
The closest thing I can think of to wordless is duende, it’s gypsy term of some kind, when you get that tingle up and down the spine, a mix of sorrow and joy.
